How to Apply DTF Transfers: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these simple steps to achieve professional results with your DTF transfers.

1
Prepare Your Garment

Prepare Your Garment

Pre-wash your garment to remove any sizing or chemicals. Make sure the fabric is completely dry and wrinkle-free before applying the transfer.

Pro Tip

Avoid using fabric softener as it can prevent proper adhesion.

2
Preheat Your Heat Press

Preheat Your Heat Press

Set your heat press to 300-320°F (150-160°C). Allow it to fully preheat for at least 5 minutes to ensure even heat distribution.

Pro Tip

Use a heat gun thermometer to verify the actual temperature of your press.

3
Position the Transfer

Position the Transfer

Place your DTF transfer face down on the garment. Make sure it's positioned exactly where you want it, as repositioning after pressing can damage the transfer.

Pro Tip

Use heat-resistant tape to secure the transfer in place if needed.

4
Apply Heat and Pressure

Apply Heat and Pressure

Press firmly for 10-15 seconds with medium to heavy pressure. Make sure the entire transfer receives even heat and pressure.

Pro Tip

Cover the transfer with parchment paper to protect both the transfer and your heat press.

5
Peel the Film

Peel the Film

Peel when its still hot, so right after the press. Carefully peel away the film at a 45-degree angle. Peel slowly and steadily.

Pro Tip

If the design starts to lift with the film, lay it back down and press for another 5 seconds.

6
Final Press and Care

Final Press and Care

Cover the design with parchment paper and press again for 5-10 seconds to ensure maximum adhesion. Wait 24 hours before washing.

Pro Tip

Wash inside out in cold water and hang dry for best longevity.
