Designing for large-format floor printing
Rugs are large-format products — design choices that work on a screen or fabric swatch look very different at full floor scale. Here’s how to get the best result.
Rugs are large — a file that looks sharp on screen at small size can appear blurry at rug scale. Always design at the actual intended print dimensions.
Floor rugs are viewed from a standing distance. Bold compositions, large pattern repeats and high-contrast designs perform best at floor level.
If your design tiles across the rug surface, ensure your pattern is seamless edge to edge. We print your file as supplied without repositioning elements.
Very fine lines and small text can lose clarity at floor-printing scale. Use bold strokes and large type for elements that need to be legible from standing height.

Ordering one rug is the ideal way to verify print quality, colour accuracy and material feel before committing to a larger production run. Once you approve the sample, scaling your order is straightforward and we can advise on lead times and volume pricing for larger quantities.
Yes. Our printed rugs are designed for both residential and commercial interior use. They are suitable for hotel lobbies, retail stores, studios, restaurants and branded activation spaces. For high-footfall commercial applications, we recommend discussing your specific requirements with us so we can advise on the most suitable material and construction for your environment.
Yes, high-detail and full-colour designs are fully supported. However, rugs are large-format products and very fine details — such as thin lines or small text — can lose clarity at floor printing scale. We recommend bold compositions and larger design elements for the clearest result. Yes. If your file needs adjustment for scale, resolution or colour profile, our team can advise and assist. For larger or more complex projects — such as multi-design collections, branded interior schemes or hospitality installations — we offer more detailed production support. We offer standard rug sizes as well as custom dimensions for specific project requirements. Custom sizing is available on request — contact us at info@familyfabrics.nl with your desired dimensions and we will confirm feasibility, material options and pricing. For very large-format pieces such as statement lobby rugs or exhibition floor graphics, we can discuss bespoke production arrangements.
Production times vary depending on size, quantity and complexity. Standard orders are typically dispatched within 2–7 working days from our studio in the Netherlands. For larger production runs or custom specifications, we will confirm lead times when you place your order. If you have a project deadline — such as a retail launch, exhibition or hospitality opening — contact us as early as possible so we can plan production accordingly.
Yes. We ship across Europe and internationally. EU orders are dispatched via DHL or DPD with full tracking. For non-EU destinations we use UPS or PostNL. Delivery times vary by destination but most European countries receive orders within 3–7 working days after dispatch. For large-format or heavy rug orders, we use specialist freight partners to ensure safe and reliable delivery.
